Upon completion of this course, the reader will be able to:
- Describe the difference between denial and impaired self-awareness
- Identify brain regions affected when there is impaired self-awareness
- Discuss people’s behavior around denial and lack of self-awareness
- Describe issues of self-awareness in several neurological diagnoses
- Discuss the results of lack of self-awareness on function and caregiver stress
- Describe the importance of evaluating self-awareness prior to intervention
- Identify at least 3 assessment mechanisms for self awareness
- Discuss the efficacy of interventions that address awareness, on functional performance
