Upon completion of this course, the reader will be able to:

• Describe the difference between denial and impaired self-awareness
• Identify brain regions affected when there is impaired self-awareness
• Discuss people’s behavior around denial and lack of self-awareness
• Describe issues of self-awareness in several neurological diagnoses
• Discuss the results of lack of self-awareness on function and caregiver stress
• Describe the importance of evaluating self-awareness prior to intervention
• Identify at least 3 assessment mechanisms for self awareness
• Discuss the efficacy of interventions that address awareness, on functional performance
